TOBY
COULTON

Toby Coulton is a London and South West-based set and costume designer working within theatre and film. Graduating from Rose Bruford College with a first-class degree in Design for Theatre and Performance in  2022 he has since been consistently working as a lead designer on multiple projects as well as tutoring at Rose Bruford College.

As a designer, Toby is passionate about creating dynamic and thought-provoking worlds through text-based work. He particularly enjoys exploring classic plays and operas by taking bold approaches to excavating their underlying themes. Toby is also interested in how the physical materiality of a design can inform and enhance an actor's characterisation.

In film, Toby has worked as a scenic sculptor on large-scale projects such as Amazon’s Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Warner Brother’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. He also worked as the Production Designer for ‘They Remain’, a short feature film for Mini Productions.

Toby spent two years studying Art and Design at the Arts University of Plymouth, where he received an extended diploma. It was during this time he developed his love for model and miniature-making. Toby Coulton Designs.
